How to Program a Centurion Remote Control

Step-by-step guide to adding, removing, and resetting Centurion NOVA remote controls on D5 Evo, D5 Smart, and D10 gate motors.

    Before You Start

These instructions cover the Centurion D5 Evo, D5 Smart, and D10 Smart motors using the standard NOVA remote. Some older Centurion motors use different programming procedures. If you're unsure of your motor model, check the label on the motor body. If programming fails after following these steps, call us, remote issues are often resolved quickly over the phone or on-site.

Adding a New Remote (Standard Method)

    1

    Access the motor's learn button

The learn/program button is located on the motor control board, typically accessed by opening the motor cover. On D5 Evo/Smart/D10, there is a small button labelled 'LEARN' or shown with a key icon on the PCB.

    2

    Press the learn button once

Press and release the LEARN button. The motor's status LED will flash or change colour to indicate it's in 'learning mode'. This mode typically stays active for 30 seconds.

    3

Press the button on your new remote

Within 30 seconds, press the button on your NOVA remote that you want to use for the gate. Hold it for 1–2 seconds until you see the motor's LED flash or hear a brief beep, this confirms the remote code has been learned.

    4

    Test the remote

Close the motor cover and test the remote from a normal operating distance. The gate should respond. If it doesn't, repeat the process, make sure you're pressing the remote button within the 30-second window.

Adding a Remote via the Centurion CONNECT App (D5 Smart / D10 Smart)

    1

    Open the Centurion CONNECT app

Log into your Centurion CONNECT account. Select your motor from the device list.

    2

Go to 'Manage Users' or 'Remote Controls'

Navigate to the access management section in the app. Select 'Add Remote' or 'Add User'.

    3

    Follow the in-app prompts

The app will guide you through adding a new remote, including NOVA physical remotes and virtual app-based access. For physical remotes, you'll still need to use the motor's learn button, the app can initiate this process remotely.

    Deleting All Remotes (Factory Reset)

Warning: This deletes ALL programmed remotes, including all household remotes. You'll need to re-program every remote. Only do this if absolutely necessary (e.g., lost remote security concern).

Locate the LEARN button on the motor control board
Press and hold the LEARN button for 10 seconds
Release when the LED flashes rapidly or you hear multiple beeps
All remote codes are now deleted, re-program each remote using the add method above

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my Centurion remote program to the motor?

Common causes: (1) The remote battery is flat, replace with a fresh CR2032 battery and try again. (2) The remote code is already stored (try deleting and re-adding). (3) You're pressing the wrong button on the remote or the wrong button on the motor board. (4) The remote is damaged. If none of these resolve it, call us, we can usually diagnose over the phone.

How many remotes can I program to a Centurion D5 Evo?

The Centurion D5 Evo can store up to 1,000 remote codes. For a residential home, this is effectively unlimited. Each button on each NOVA remote is stored as a separate code, so a single 4-button NOVA remote actually uses 4 code slots.

Can I add a new NOVA remote without deleting my existing remotes?

Yes. The standard add process (press LEARN once, then the new remote) adds the new remote without affecting any existing programmed remotes. Existing remotes continue to work normally. Only the 'hold for 10 seconds' factory reset deletes all remotes.

My Centurion remote stopped working suddenly, is it the remote or motor?

Test with another known-working remote. If the motor responds to the other remote, the issue is with your specific remote (flat battery or damaged remote). If no remote works, the issue is with the motor (board fault, battery backup issue, or power supply problem). See our guide: Gate Remote Not Working.
