How to Reset an Electric Gate Motor (South Africa)

Resetting an electric gate motor can resolve many common faults including collision errors, safety beam triggers, and overcurrent faults. Here's how to reset the most common gate motor types used in South Africa.
Power Cycle Reset (All Motors)
The simplest reset method: switch the gate motor circuit off at the distribution board. Wait 30 seconds for all capacitors to discharge. Switch the circuit back on. The motor will reinitialise — listen for the startup beep sequence. Test operation with the remote.
Collision/Obstruction Reset (Centurion)
After a collision event, Centurion motors enter a protection state. To reset: remove the obstruction, then either power cycle the motor (see above) or press the wall-button/remote once. The motor will attempt to retract to the start position. If it encounters resistance again, it will stop — check for remaining obstructions.
Full Factory Reset (Centurion D5 Evo / D10)
A full reset clears all settings including remote codes and limit switch positions. Hold the LEARN button for 15–20 seconds until the LED flashes and the motor beeps multiple times. Release. The motor returns to factory default. You will need to re-set the limits and re-programme all remotes. This is a last-resort step — only perform if a power cycle fails to resolve the fault.
